Baby Shower

Our Baby Shower 2/24/07

Wow how time has flown, and Saturday was time for our baby shower! It was also exactly 8wks from our declared due date of 4/24/07...eeek!!

Thanks to everyone who attended and literally showered us with gifts- we are so grateful for all of the great baby gear we received! We really do have almost everything we need for Pebbles to live here....not to mention she is going to be the most stylin girl in Greenwood this summer!! We will have to be sure to get out on the town, or at least the neighborhood, to show off some of her fancy outfits.
A special thanks to my hostess with the most-est, Erin, for throwing such a great party! We had a fun time opening gifts, playing bingo and chit chatting....but unfortunately never got the baby food tasting game. Is it a coincidence that everyone left at about that time?...I think not ;)

'Mamaw Terri' , Me and 'Mom-Mom'

A flamingo bib from my cousin Amanda in Florida- almost too cute to use!

Smile! Me with Pebbles' Aunt Becky and Melissa

3.75 generations of Creech women

An embarassment of riches- before the unwrapping began

Snacks.............and Presents!

Just one example of the many fabulous outfits Pebbles will have to wear this summer!

Mamaw had a very special gift for us- keepsakes from her baby shower for my Mom's birth in 1952 including: a copy of the invitation, a shawl that Papaw had sent to the shower for her, two tiny dresses that were my Mom's, and a picture of her in one of them when she was a little baby. That Mamaw sure does know how to make ladies eyes well up!

And finally, I've had demands for more updates on belly shots. I'm kinda getting scared of looking at these pictures myself, so maybe I'll have Jeremy post them from now on. I would also like to note disclaimer that this was very much a 'pregnant shirt' so my hugeness is partially optical illusion. But here you go.....

32 Week Belly shot

THANK YOU!!!!!
to everyone who made this a special day for us!!

Book Recomendation

This book was my airplane reading for our trips, and I still have a ways to go in it. But from what I have read I have to say that *all* expectant moms (planning natural childbirth or not) should read it. It's a fabulous book!

It's written by a midwife and pyschologist and focuses on preparing for natural childbirth, but aside from that has alot of great tips on how to listen to your body, confront your fears about labor, and make sure your wants will be met when talking to your doctors about your plans.

Most importantly it talks about getting yourself in the right frame of mind about labor, and remembering that your body is designed to do this. It helps you think about how you plan to deal with the pain, and how your husband will help you cope with the pain....there are also little cheat cards for Jeremy to take with him to the hospital on how to help and what questions to ask docs.

So we're still planning NCB and this book is just helping us think about it. Hopefully all these great ideas won't get thrown out the window on labor day but if they do, please remember....no making fun of me! :)

Pebbles' little cousin!

More exciting baby news- Pebbles is going to have a little cousin born in October! Jeremy's sister Carrie is expecting her second little one. Baby Retzer will be about 6 months younger than Pebbles...yay!! CONGRATS!!

We've just returned from the Conference in Austin and our Babymoon in NYC. It was fun but I'm glad to be home after 10 days away. I missed my house and puppies! I will write a longer blog about it tomorrow or tonight....just wanted to post our family news!

Good Good all Good

Back at the doc's today- I sure am getting used to that office! I will be going every two weeks from now on, and am rotating between the four docs instead of just seeing my own. This way we get to meet them all in case they are 'on call' for Pebble's birth...they won't be strangers! (although Jeremy missed meeting today's doc- I approve :)

Happy to report things continue to look great. We have been blessed with such an easy pregnancy!:
  • blood pressure continues to be good, actually got dubbed 'beautiful' today
  • Pebbles continues to have a strong heartbeat
  • My 'bump' measure 29 inches- whoah!
  • According to doc scales I have gained 22lbs total and am right on track to gain 35 total (which has been my goal from the beginning). Our bathroom scale is broken so I was worried! When I told Jeremy I gained 22lbs he said ' since the last appointment'?......which caused some cursing and name calling over the phone. NO....TOTAL! Sheesh!
  • Labs and glucose test done at last appointment checked out a-okay!

I am busy busy at work getting ready for next week's Conference in Austin, TX. My boss is happy that Jeremy will be in Austin most of the week, I think they have a secret agreement to keep an eye on me and make sure I don't overdo it!

Looks Like a Baby Could Live Here!

Pebbles continues to add to her furniture collection with a beautiful cherry changing table and wooden toy box- Thanks Grammie and Grampie Bennington!

We also moved the comfy rocky chair --Thanks Papaw Terry!-- complete with new slip cover to our living room setup, and made room for future pack and play. And by God it's starting to look more and more like a baby could live here!

And just for good measure I shouldn't forget....GO COLTS!
