Soliciting Ideas

So I have this current obsession in my head which is to firstly get a cool cookie jar. Something glass and antique-y like to match our kitchen.

Then I would like to make it my goal to bake cookies once a week and fill it up. If I'm feeling extra awesome, I'd like to make another batch to share with someone.

I figure that can't be too hard right? Maybe do it on a weekend when the house is a little less crazy. And I could blog my weekly cookies too. The kids are always asking for some sort of treat. I think I would feel better about giving them a hearty homemade treat than some candy or whatever.

The problem is that I'm not a recipe kinda girl. Our kitchen is more fly by the seat of your pants style (with Jeremy mostly at the helm). I don't really know where to start.

So help me people of the internet. Send me your requests and recipes!

Here are my requirements:
--Preferably drop cookies (the kind you just spoon out)
--Can be made using a hand mixer
--No extra steps like icing, glazing or taffy pulling
--I'm open to any and all ingredients. Chocolate is good because as a rule the more chocolaty it is, the less of it I will eat (which is a good thing)

Go! Feel free to email or FB me!

I'm afraid I won't be much help- the cookies I make are either break n bake (Tollhouse only!) or oatmeal cookie mixes with whatever kind of chips I want to add (butterscotch, chocolate chip, whatever I'm in the mood for). Just wanted to post saying I think it is a great goal, and if you feel like mailing out your gift cookies, I could give you my address! lol

We've been making our own graham crackers -- they have a lot less sugar than most cookies, but frequently inhabit our cookie jar. I'll set up a link on Facebook!

Check out AllRecipes.com. Its a great site I use when in need of a good recipe. There is a section to the left called Kid-Friendly Recipes, under Popular Collections. Within that section you can search cookies or other treats. You can create a free account that will allow you to save recipes.
Hope this helps!

Don't forget to check the brand websites. They have lots of recipes, all using their products of course. You know they want the recipes to be good so you will buy their product to make it with.

These are the best oatmeal raisin cookies EVER. The only things I change are the nuts (don't like them so I leave them out) and I use a whole cup of melted butter instead of two kinds of shortening. The best thing about them is that I literally dump everything in a bowl all together and it's moist enough to stir up with a large spoon. No mixer needed!
